This week I made a scooter bag. Yes, a scooter bag – for some reason Brian finds that funny. I made it for our new little friend Owain (pronounced like a glass o wine). He just moved here from Wales with his mum, Liz and we have become fast friends. He has a scooter just like Bea’s, but his did not come with a bag. Liz mentioned that he wanted a bag and his birthday is coming up next week so I got busy on my sewing machine.

Owain liked his scooter bag and Liz kindly called me clever. You should see Owain and Bea scooting. They are off like two little rockets and Liz and I have to interrupt our chatting and yell loudly – disturbing the Swiss quiet. Bea, Owain, that’s far enough! we say. Bea is more reckless when she’s scooting with Owain. So reckless in fact she bit the dust earlier this week and ended up with a big scrape on her knee and on her elbow. It happened immediately after I was telling Liz how careful and timid Bea is and how she never seems to get hurt. Ouch.

Inspired by these – we also made some Fall decorations. I like the sentiment on that post – she reminds me that you don’t need much to make a good craft. There are enough paper crafts to keep us entertained for years and they don’t require any trips to the craft store. So here are our accordion folded and cut leaves. I told Bea it’s like the leaves are holding hands. We talked about the colors that leaves turn and then when it came time to paint she painted a bunch of the leaves black.

Feeling excited about this crafty time of year – what housework can I neglect, what will my next project be.
