The Swiss version of Fourth of July is on August 1st. We took a quick trip up into the hills near us to a town called Einsiedeln. It was a hot day and I was a bit exhausted from building IKEA furniture – so we kept it low key and enjoyed a long lunch in the shade.
Later in the day we went down to our town’s little celebration – mostly we wanted to enjoy the food stands. We had raclette, baked potatoes with stroganoff type topping, sausages, clafoutis, churros with vanilla and chocolate sauce and beer. Yum!
We ended the day watching fireworks from our patio. We could see thousands, sparkling all around the lake – up close and in the far far distance. It was magical.
