• We hadn’t been able to pick strawberries yet and it was getting so late in the season I didn’t think it was going to happen this year (sad). But we got a chance to drive up to our favorite picking place today – the day before their last day of picking. The berries were small but sweet.

    Stay tuned for jam photos.

  • The girls and I went to Michigan for the 4th of July. I didn’t get pictures of all the fun things we did. Grandma C. took us to a baseball game that ended with fireworks. And then we saw more fireworks at the Chippewa Nature Center with Grandma and Grandpa J. Jennifer and Jenna took us to a zoo near Frankenmuth – a funny little mom and pop zoo that had a surprising number of fun animals. Lots of fun!

And now we’re back home. This Summer feels like a series of fun travels punctuated by massive amounts of laundry. Oh well at least I can watch the Tour de France while I fold clothes.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

As I was walking that ribbon of highway
I saw above me that endless skyway
I saw below me that golden valley
This land was made for you and me.

I roamed and I rambled and I followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
While all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me.

When the sun came shining, and I was strolling
And the wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
A voice was chanting, As the fog was lifting,
This land was made for you and me.

This land is your land, this land is my land
From California to the New York Island
From the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream waters
This land was made for you and me.

  • Well we are back from our Oregon camper van vacation and I think it was a great success. The thing about camping is that you are close to your fellow campers all the time and I think the kids loved that. They also loved sleeping in the pop up bunk of the camper van, running on the beach and eating s’mores every night. I loved it too. Oregon is beautiful and its state camp grounds were very friendly. Sleeping in the fresh air felt so good. The girl were so happy while they explored the beach and the woods and the ocean. We only had a few toys along and I was amazed at how they played together so well – using those few toys along with sticks and stones and mud and whatever else they could find. Brian got to go for some nice hilly picturesque bike rides so he was smiling too.

I’ll post our pictures in the next few days – there are lots.
