Day two of Grandma J. and Jenna’s visit – we headed to the zoo. Here they are on the train – getting there is fun too.

I guess I got more photos of the girls playing at the zoo playgrounds and not so many of the animals. But we did see animals – elephants, giraffes, pigs, lamas, sea lions, meerkats, flamingos, camels, sheep, donkies, miniature horses and the cutest ever baby goats.

When visiting Bea’s house feel free to follow her lead and doff your pants as soon as you walk in the door. Jenna is making herself at home and we are so happy to have her.
Here they are enjoying the sunny day. Jenna is getting the hang of scooter riding.

Then she needed a nap – sweet thing.

This was one of my most frustrating calendar girl photos. The sun was too bright (yes, I’m hard to please) and Claire just wanted to eat the calendar.
Here is our darling ten-month-old. Very animated and very kissable.

Fuzzy wuzzy was a Claire.

Recently she has shown that she can get really angry. Watch out if you take a toy away from her. Happily, it never lasts very long and she’s back to her smiley self before soon.

We have some really sweet mornings with her lately. She usually comes into our bed early in the morning – she’ll go back to sleep or just wiggle and talk to herself. I try to sleep a little until Brian gets out of the shower and then I’ll sit her up and watch her making eyes at her Daddy. She saves her sweetest, twinkling smiles for him. I know it gives him a good start to his day to see her beaming little face.

Tomorrow is the day that Jenna and Grandma J. arrive. Jennifer will come on Saturday after spending some time in Wales for work. We’ve been looking forward to this visit for so long. Brian will have a house full of girls – six to be exact. Jennifer told me that Jenna was asking about their layover in Hamsterdam. You know… the city in The Netherlands where all the hamsters live.
Stay tuned for lots of cute cousin photos.

If you look closely in the Swiss grocery stores you’ll see some products that seem to be targeted at Americans. Things like this bread. They call sliced bread like this toast. Notice the stars and the Uncle Sam type hat. And it says Great for Big Sandwiches – it might as well say Great for Big Fat Americans Who Find Swiss Bread Tiny and Too Crusty. Sometimes I just want some soft white bread – and so does Bea.

Here are some hamburger buns with the tell tale stars and stripes – they scream Hey Americans these are for you!

We Americans can’t live without marshmallows. These are imported from Elk Grove Illinois – not from the Rocky Mountains.

The package says A True American Tradition and there are directions for roasting marshmallows on the back. Oh and this smaller that a US sized bag costs about $5.00. That makes for some pricey Rice Krispie Treats.

And then there is the Nick the Easy Rider Peanut Butter (click to enlarge). More stars and stripes just to make me feel at home when I make a PB and J on XXL soft white white bread (see above). Who is Nick the Easy Rider and why is he on my tiny jar of peanut butter? Can anyone fill me in?

Oh Mommy groceries are so funny!

I would love to hang one of these on my wall.

They are by a Japanese artist named Fmio Watanabe. I don’t know anything about him except that these are paintings done by hand and I knew that they must be scenes of Switzerland as soon as I saw them.
Maybe it’s my longing for spring that makes me swoon over the neon greens. I can’t wait ’till I can look across the lake and see the luminescent green grass against bright blue mountains instead of the gray white green haze that I see most days lately.

I didn’t take a single photo all weekend long. That hasn’t happened in a long time. It’s been pretty cloudy and I guess I’m looking forward to spring. Here are the girls goofing around in Bea’s bed.

I am also getting so excited to see my Mom and Jennifer and Jenna in a little over a week.

I found this photo on a blog today. It’s true – Brian is really, really nice and apparently the French think so too.

Here’s another photo that decribes my family – it was taken by Brian back in his China traveling days:
