• I’ve been telling Brian that I spend most of my days gazing out the window at the beautiful view. The clouds, the light on the hills, the boats in the water, the mountains, the cranes. It’s all ever-changing and fascinating.

So I’m starting a new series of posts – a series of panoramas from my kitchen window.

Here’s the first one –  click over to flickr to see a larger version.

  • Whenever Brian has a flight I end up with some chocolate. This never happened in the US.

We are having such a hard time choosing a name for this baby. Last time it seemed much easier. Brian pushed hard for Beatrice and it grew on me. For the middle name I knew all along I wanted Jennifer. Easy. For this baby I have a list of about six names that could be used for first or middle names. We’re going to keep her name a secret ’till she’s born – but it’s so tempting to run some names by Mom and Jennifer. If you have any suggestions – feel free to share. The one idea I will share is Bea’s name for her baby sister: Nowhere. No idea where that came from but I’m sure it’s stuck because of the reaction she gets every time she says it.

  • I finished the Easter bunny that I promised myself I would get to. She made me happy while making her. I think I’ll call her Hoppy. Can’t wait to snuggle her in a basket with some Easter grass and some candy. Hopefully she will make Bea happy too.

  • We went to Uetliberg today. It’s a very popular hiking spot only 15 or 20 minutes by train out of Zurich. It has nice views of the city and you can glimpse the Alps too. If you visit us we might take you here for some easy but spectacular views.

The paths that seem to endlessly crisscross this country are called wanderwegs (that’s vander veck if you’re pronunciation challenged like me):

Time for lunch and a cookie:

Our home is somewhere down the lake on the left side:

Time to head home on a nice bright orange train:

  • I found rhubarb yogurt today. You can see we have a shelf full of yogurt. There are so many yummy yogurt options here. I’ve been having snacks of carmel yogurt, mocha yogurt and choco coconut yogurt lately. It satisfies my sweet tooth while I feel like I’m getting at least a little bit of goodness for my belly too.

  • Here’s a post to motivate me. I’m posting the inspiration that I’ve gathered for a little Easter friend that I want to make. Sometimes when I tell you all that I’m going to make something it motivates me get started. So here it is – I WILL be making an Easter Bunny for Bea.

A big sorry to all the talented makers of the bunnies below – I know I’ve stolen your photos and I didn’t keep a record of who made what.

  • We spent some time getting the baby area ship shape this morning. It made me think of the excitement and fun I had when I set up Bea’s crib too.

    Bea’s spot three years ago:

And now I get to do it again. Here’s the new baby spot:

Still needs a little work. I basically only took care of the fun stuff. I might put up those black and white pictures that were above Bea’s bed. And I’m expecting a new little quilt from Grandma C. (am I right?). The piggy was a little indulgence from Three Potato Four

I made the cloud with raindrops this morning. It’s made from leftover pieces of styrofoam – more packaging from our IKEA stuff. I cut out paper raindrops and sewed them together on the sewing machine. Cutting styrofoam like this is very very messy. It looked like it had snowed when I was done. The finished cloud is of course very light so I didn’t have to make any holes in the wall to hang it. We are wary of putting tons of holes in the walls because we will just have to fill and paint in 3 short years when we move out.
