• This picture is more than nine months old now. I have always thought it was hilarious but Kathy wasn’t so thrilled. Now that Bea doesn’t really look like this any more, her eyes are no longer so blue, her hair is longer, her cheeks less rotund, it’s ok.

    As in…

Kathy always encourages me to post on her blog. This is most certainly what she had in mind, right?

  • I finally got a photo for the Braid Wednesday group over at flickr.

We spent a nice evening sitting in the sand at the beach several days ago.

Putting sand in Daddy’s hair – thrilling.

  • One of the few and far between benefits of having a Daddy that travels all the time. You can make the keycard collection he has given you into roads.

  • Bea overcame her timid tendencies today. We spent the day at the Lincoln Park Zoo. She rode the kiddie train all by herself. She climbed in this big net and ladder thingy that was crawling with big kids. And she rode the carousel. She looks like she’s not having fun in the last picture but she was. She was just very serious and busy taking it all in. It takes a lot for her to step out and do stuff like that without holding my hand. It was a good day.

  • Sunday felt like our first Fall day of the year. It was cool and bright. The kind of weather that makes me want to turn my head up towards the sun and bask.

We went to the Morton Arboretum and had a lovely day. After being without Daddy a lot lately Bea thoroughly enjoyed him this weekend.

  • My thoughts are with my Grandpa and Grandma tonight. They were in a car accident and we think their injuries were not too very serious except for the fact that they are old* and being in the hospital is hard on them. I am so fond of my Grandpa and Grandma Dice and I just hate to think of them in pain. I’m hoping that they will be back home and comfortable soon.

    * Sorry – Grandpa and Grandma – I mean old in the best possible way. I mean your kind of old. Old with lots of good stories and memories that we want to hear. Old and full of affection and kindness for your many, many family and friends. Old with a sense of humor and a quick smile.

  • It has felt like October (with lots and lots of rain) around here this week. Uhg. So we’ve been making crafts instead of going outside.

    – An elephant parade: I got the template from this very inspirational site.

    – Big Ice Cream Cones: inspired by this craft at the Crafty Crow. I made an illustration of the cones and Bea glued on the “ice cream”. Her first glue experience… very exciting. You can download my Ice Cream Cones PDF if you would like to make a giant pink ice cream cone too.

    – A celebration banner: because we found out this week that Daddy got the promotion he was hoping for. So, apparently, I am now the wife of a BIG deal. The little BIG deal and I had to welcome the BIG deal home with a neon banner. I cut out the letters and then we colored them and I sewed them together on the sewing machine. Good job Brian – we are so very proud of you!

  • I’m smitten with the your happy, jumpy run. With your arms so silly and alive. Your snuggable body, your adorable round belly.
