• TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS.

    There’s snow outside:

I’m finishing my assembly line of Christmas Cards:

    We made a button tree:

    A few decorations are up:

And the twinkle lights are on outside our windows:

  • Wooo Hoooo! I finished Bea’s stocking. I could do a couple things to improve it like adding another color to her name to make it stand out better and a line of stitching along the scallop would be nice. But I’m calling it done and it feels good. Now I’m anxious to start some of the other merry things on my sewing/crafting list.

  • Thanksgiving at the Chapman house 2007:

  • Thankful that mom is doing great after her hip surgery:

Thankful for family gathered around tables of delicious food:

Thankful for little girls and all the laughter and joy that comes with them:

Thankful for my little family that makes me so happy:

Note: I love that this is a family portrait if you look closely. They’re in a plastic bubble thingy at the Saginaw Children’s Museum
  • Mom made it through her hip surgery just fine. Now we’re going to cheer her on in her recovery.

  • I turned 34 – it’s all a blur really.

Bea was completely entranced by buttons.

    We went swimming.

We ate lots of dessert. Brian has been making some terribly sinful desserts lately. And then he got a death by chocolate birthday cake for me. Uhg.

Have you ever served the other person a gigantic piece of dessert just to make your piece look not-so-big. Me neither… just checking.

  • Why didn’t I find these before – just what I have been looking for – old sewing patterns. Now if I could just find some time to sit down and actually complete a sewing project.

I found a few sites that sell patterns:

  • Thinking that that Obama and Palin photo is funny but not that funny. I need to get something else up at the top of my blog.

We got out the How the Grinch Stole Christmas! book last night. It has such a nice sentiment but then in the next moment I’m going over the remaining things on my Christmas shopping list.

Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any presents at all!

He HADN’T stopped Christmas from coming!
    IT CAME
Somehow or other, it came just the same!

And the Grinch with his Grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzled and puzzling: “How could it be so?”
“It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes or bags!”
And he puzzled three hours, till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before!
“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store.
“Maybe Christmas… perhaps… means a little bit more!”

I love that he thought about it for a whole three hours before he realized what Christmas is really about. I don’t think that Grinch was very bright.

I’ve also been thinking about mom – and her hip replacement surgery which is happening next week. I’m looking forward to it being over for her. I know the recovery won’t be quick but she is strong and I’m not worried because she can handle it. Bea and I will be going back to Midland to stay with her for a week or so. I’m picturing myself loving her with food while Bea acts charming and plays nicely. I hope it goes like that and we are able to help her recover comfortably.
  • Okay – so we did have a little fun over the weekend:
