• OWL

Last night before going to bed I peaked out the window and the trees were covered with a fluffy layer of snow. So this morning I had hopes of going out to take some lovely snow pictures, but unfortunately by the time we could head out the snow had melted off the tree branches and then it was rainy and foggy the rest of the day. Bummer.

So this is a very bad photo of a very nice owl that I got for Christmas. Bea notices the owl almost every night on her way to bed. After she brushes her teeth we walk out of my bedroom and there the owl hangs above my door. She looks up and says something that only she understands. And sometimes she’ll reach her hand out as if she could touch the owl. And I stop to say “oh yes there’s our owl – what does the owl say? – whoooo whooooo”. And she grins like she has a special secret. And then we go to her room and I lay her down and tell her night night.

  • FLAT MADDIE VISITS THE CHICAGO BRAUHAUS

This photo is sort of cheating because it was taken with our old camera and Brian took it. It’s of Flat Maddie who came all the way from the St. Louis area. She will be spending the week with us learning about where we live. Isn’t she cute!

  • I just came across this great method for cleaning your computer screen. Take a look.

  • SOMETIMES I WAKE UP GRUMPY SOMETIMES I LET HER SLEEP

  • BLUE EYES AND WHITE FLOWERS

I’m looking forward to having a bit more sunshine. I really could use some more natural light when taking photos. The dreary light makes the flash come on and it’s very frustrating.

I’m looking forward to doing some sewing with the fabric that Bea and I picked out this morning. We needed to get out of the house so I drove down into the city to a nice little quilt shop. I was drawn to the sunny oranges and yellows. I think I will make some little shirts with this free pattern I found.

I’m looking forward to watching Charlie and Lola with Bea. Do you know Charlie and Lola? We have a little book of Charlie and Lola counting and I liked it. But then I saw The Charlie and Lola show on TV and I am in love with Lola. She is British and she is polite and creative and she has the cutest little patterned dresses.

Dang – I think I just heard thunder. We are supposed to have a big storm this afternoon. I’m going to get out my new fabric and think of sunshine… ooh it just started hailing – bring on the oranges and yellows and bright greens.

  • I signed up for the athletic club that Brian belongs to. When I heard they have a kid care center I was ready to join. Saturday I took a ballet class that was fun and felt really good. I studied the list of classes last night and decided to take a water aerobics class this morning. I’ve taken water aerobics in the past and I enjoyed it, plus the class was offered at a time that was not a nap time or a meal time and while the kid care center was open. I wasn’t really all that surprised that most of the people in the class were 30 or 40 years older than me. But then five minutes into the class a lovely old lady made her way towards the pool with her walker. I was busy concentrating on the exercises so it didn’t register for a few moments that I was taking a class that people with walkers take. Hmmmm. Maybe I’m ready for the next level of water aerobics.
