• This is Bea’s paper baby. Who can explain why she is more obsessed with a magazine cut-out baby than with her toy baby dolls. This little babe has gotten lots of love. She’s wrinkled all over and has some tape repairs, but she’s been remarkably resilient. Bea gives the paper baby drinks from her sippy cup and make drinking sounds. So funny.
  • Today, when we were out walking, a fireman waved at us.
  • F is for fabric…. no, I already have an F photo.

S is for sew… no, I already have an S photo.

Oh well, it’s just a photo of a shirt that as usual came out the wrong size. Why can’t sewing pattern sizes correspond to the sizes that we buy in stores. I am glad that it didn’t turn out too small.  I love the fabric and I was looking forward to pairing it with some brown leggings. Mom-in-law suggested I put the flowers horizontal along the yoke – good idea. Too bad it will have to sit in the closet until next summer or until Bea grows some big shoulders.
  • Pretty soap made by Method – from Target.
  • Today we took a bike ride over to the cemetery near our house. I guess I’m getting in the mood for Halloween.

  • Yesterday we went to the Chicago Botanic Garden. Bea was a little grumpy until I gave her a snack and took her to the Model Railroad Garden. I don’t know why I didn’t take her there before. I was thinking she would be too young to enjoy it, but she loved it. One of her first words was train so I should have known she’d have a fantastic time. It’s a great exhibit of model trains set in a mini landscape of plants and models of America’s famous sites. There’s a mini White House, San Francisco, Main Street, Old Faithfull, Hollywood, etc. The whole exhibit is really well done with train sounds and lots of tracs looping all around you – they even run over your head on little bridges. The nice old men who run the place actually have a pretty big job keeping all the trains and tracks maintained. They walk around in their conductor hats and one had suspenders with railroad track printed on them – very charming. Bea’s pointer finger certainly got a work out.

  • Fall always makes me want to ease into a routine again. So it’s time for a new project. I’ll call it my alphabet project. A photo for each letter of the alphabet – 26 days in a row. I won’t make myself do it all in order but I will start with the letter A. Here goes.

And for those of  you who crave B is for Bea photos here she is:

  • Wow, where did this summer go. Last night I convinced Brian to walk down to the beach with us just to wiggle our toes in the sand. It was a beautiful night with a gentle breeze and a huge gang of seagulls for Bea to point her little finger at. On our walk back I got a little choked up. I was thinking about how different this summer has been. I have had so many good days. Good days filled with simple pleasures. Too many to count and more than I thought I could fit into one summer. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy summer before – it’s just that this one felt so different with Bea by my side.

    Thanks Bea.

These aren’t great pictures but they remind me of all the evenings we’ve spent on our patio this summer.

Okay – now prepare yourself – sometimes we get a really bad photo that makes me laugh for a long time.

  • I love that she doesn’t mind making mistakes all day long. It’s a good lesson. The fact that star comes out as dar doesn’t make her frustrated or embarassed. And it certainly doesn’t stop her from saying dar, dar, dar all the way home from the store.

Here is some flawless artwork that we made today.

  • Sorry I didn’t post earlier I was having a hard time logging in to Typepad.

Now that I am logged in I feel uninspired. But I do know that I had a fantastic weekend with two little cuties. I’ll show you the pictures. Thanks Jennifer and Mom for making the trip!

And now it’s feeling fallish. Here’s Bea running through the crisp, cool breeze.
